Never Again: promoting Holocaust, genocide, and human rights awareness

To all those interested in taking a course designed for teaching the Holocaust, you need to check out FacingHistory.com. I took it this fall and now have access to thousands of primary and secondary sources that I can use in class. They also have a person that contacts you frequently to see if you need anything while teaching the Holocaust in your own classroom.

As a educator who has taken this course, I recommend it to all. (you also can get credit hours, which helps).

The International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem offers an excellent series of online courses which run for a period of six months. Courses utilize materials from Yad Vashem’s extensive archives and resources along with the latest in Holocaust research and pedagogy. I am currently enrolled in the online course “Life Lessons – Bringing Holocaust History to Your Classroom” and have found the experience to be very worthwhile. Course descriptions, syllabi and other information can be found on the Yad Vashem website.

You are currently taking it? How is it and what exactly does it entail? Would someone be able to take this course and teach at the same time? When I took the Facing History course, we ended the session with a phone conversation with a survivor. It was quite an experience.

If you could let me know how you like the course through the Yad Vashem site, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Alan Derosby

I have not taken a Facing History and Ourselves course, but do utilize their materials as part of my teaching. It is a great resource to use.
